EndTime Prophecy 101 False Prophets

Gary Petty I didn't know if how many peoplewould come out being as cold as it is, but I guess you're a tough bunch. Could you hearme okay in the backé Okay, good. Yeah, and we had some really cold weather in San Antonio,Texas last week. It actually got below freezing one night, and it must have stayed that wayfor probably four hours. The bird bath had a little bit of ice on it. We had to go outbecause they couldn't figure out how to get to the water. They were all sitting and pickingon the ice, so we had to go melt the ice for a little bit so they could…So, in fact wehad two nights last week that it actually it went below 32, so we've just been suffering.It has been tough. Well we'll go ahead and

open with prayer, so if you'll all bow yourheads. Father in heaven, we thank you for your blessingsand for being here tonight, and we ask You to help those that are here and all thosethat are on the hook up that we can come to a deeper understanding of Your way, a deeperunderstanding of this very important topic, Father. You warned us that there would bea lot of deception at the end time, and of course there's always been deception eversince Adam and Eve were deceived in the Garden of Eden. Father, You do give us through YourSpirit the ability to perceive deception, to withstand it. But at the same time, wehave to be able to submit to that because

deception has a pull, it has an attractionto it. We ask You to please help us tonight as we understand the world we live in. Weunderstand what is ahead to come in prophecy and how to be prepared for those things, sowe could heed the warnings that You give us. We praise You, we thank You, we ask all thisin Christ Jesus' name. Amen. In the Olivet prophecy, Jesus said that atthe end time there would be many false christs, many false prophets. He says, if it were possible,they would even deceive the very elect. In other words, the only way that anyone is notgoing to be deceived by what happens is that God is going to help us not see it, or seeit and reject it. We're going to say, quot;Okay,

that is deception. We're going to reject it.quot;Deception is an interesting thing. The person who begins the deception is doing it to harmothers. They actually deceive people either to get something for themselves or to hurtothers. Once they deceive people, those people deceive others but they don't know that they'redeceiving people. They think they're telling them the truth. Once a deception gets big enough, it justseems it's accepted. If you tell someone that is a very conservative Protestant or a Catholicand you tell them that they should not keep Christmas, they're appalled. Now, they'renot trying to deceive you with Christmas.

They haven't made it up. In fact, it's allthey've been taught since they were born, and so the deception has become part of whothey are. What I want to talk about tonight is justfour ways which deception is prevalent in all societies and how you and I can face deceptiontoday. When I'm talking about deception here, I'm talking about being deceived to go againstGod. Then we're going to look at these four ways, and I just want to review a couple ofScriptures that talks about the great deception that happens at the end time with the beastof false prophet. So how could we be deceivedé How are peopledeceivedé How is the average person deceivedé

Once again, they grow up in it, so they don'tknow they're deceived. Why don't they know they're deceivedé Well, the most common means of deceit, andremember when I say deceit, the people propagating it most of the time don't know that they'repropagating a falsehood. They believe it's true. You always have to trace things backto their originators, where do they come fromé The people who actually knew what they weredoing was wrong. The greatest deceit that we face every day in our lives is I call conventionalwisdom. You may have heard this term before. Conventional wisdom, anybody know what thatterm meansé What's conventional wisdom meané

4 Types of False Prophets Christian sermon Bible preaching

In Matthew Chapter number 7 there I want tofocus on the part beginning in verse 15 where the Bible reads, quot;Beware of false prophets,which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shallknow them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistlesé Even so everygood tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. Agood tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. Whereforeby their fruits ye shall know them.quot; The part that I want to focus on is in verse15 there where he says, quot;Beware of false prophets.quot;

Specifically I want to give you tonight fourtypes of false prophets that are in the Bible. Go if you would to 2 Peter Chapter number2. God gives us certain examples of false prophets in the Bible that typify the differenttypes of false prophets that we're going to deal with in 2015 or at any time. Sort oflike God gives the seven churches which are in Asia as examples of the types of churchesthat can exist in any given place or given time. There are also examples of false prophetsgiven that will help us to identify false prophets in our day.Now look at 2 Peter 2:1. The Bible reads, quot;But there were false prophets also amongthe people, even as there shall be false teachers

among you,quot; There's no doubt about the factthat they will be among us. That's why he said, beware of false prophets, they willcome to you in sheep's clothing. It will not be obvious that they are false prophets, butthey will be in disguise. They will seem like good people and it's easy to be deceived bythese people because they seem like great people, but inwardly, they're ravening wolves.That's what Jesus is warning us about. He says, quot;They shall be among you.quot; They werethere in the Old Testament, they're going to be there in the New Testament, they'rearound in 2015. He says that these people, halfway through verse one there, it says,quot;who privilyquot; privily means secretly, privately,

quot;shall bring in damnable heresies, even denyingthe Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.quot; These falseprophets aren't just going to come right out and just openly deny the Lord, but they'lldo that privately, they'll do that secretly. They will come in with subtly.The Bible says in verse 2, quot;Many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom theway of truth shall be evil spoken of.quot; He's saying these people will give Christianitya bad name because so many people will follow them that it will cause people to speak illof the way of truth. quot;And through covetousness, shall they with feigned words make merchandiseof you.quot; Feigned words means that they're

saying things that they don't even believe.When you feign something it means you're faking. It's pretty much the same thing as faking.With feigned words, it's with things that are fake, they say things that they don'treally believe or don't really mean. quot;with feigned words they'll make merchandise ofyou: whose judgement now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.quot;Flip over to Jude, just a few pages to the right in your Bible. I'm not going to takethe time to prove this, but it is very obvious to anyone who's read these books even a fewtimes that 2 Peter Chapter 2 and Jude are parallel passages that are just hand in glove.They fit together, they talk about the exact

same subject, they even bring up a lot ofthe same things in the same order. It's good to put these two side by side and comparethem. Look at verse four of Jude. quot;For there arecertain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained of this condemnation, ungodlymen, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our LordJesus Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though you once knew this, howthat the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyedthem that believed not.quot; The reason he brings that up is that thesefalse prophets, these men who creep in unawares,
